IND VS AFG:-Dubai: India has a comfortable victory over Afghanistan in the Asia Cup Super Four match. With this, India has lost its hopes of the final and is officially out of the tournament. Batting first, India set a target of 213 runs against Afghanistan. Virat Kohli’s century made India a big target against Afghanistan. Chasing a target of 213, the Afghan innings ended on 111.

The Indian bowlers did not allow the Afghan batsmen to keep up. India picked up a wicket before the runs fell on the scoreboard. Afghanistan did not have a better performance except for Ibrahim Zadran who scored 64 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Hooda took five wickets each for India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled four overs and gave away only four runs.

King Kohli is back

Virat Kohli hits 71st century in his career. In the match against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup Super Four match, the former captain of the Indian cricket team will get a century after a long gap. After 1021 days, Kohli scored a century in his international career. Kohli was the backbone of the Indian innings by scoring 122 runs in 61 balls without getting out. On the back of Kohli’s century, India scored 212 runs in the stipulated over.

Kohli’s century came in the last match of the tournament when India lost hope of entering the Asia Cup final. In the absence of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Kohli, who opened with KL Rahul, scored a century off 53 balls. Kohli played an innings with 12 fours and six sixes against Afghanistan. This is also Kohli’s first T20 International century. Kohli also now holds the highest individual score by an Indian player in T20Is.

Today, India got their only win in Super Four in the tournament without entering the finals. Rahul replaced captain Rohit Sharma to lead the team. Dinesh Karthik was replaced in the team. India started today with Axar Patel replacing Hardik Pandya and Deepak Chahar as the third pacer. The team will face each other again in the final on September 11 after the final match of the Super Four between Sri Lanka and Pakistan tomorrow.
