Bauma, the captain of the South African team that won the toss in the match, chose to bowl. Accordingly, Padum Nissanka and Kusal Perera were the opening batsmen of the Sri Lankan team.

South Africa needed 15 runs to win the last over. David Miller, who was on the field, led the way with 2 sixes.
In the end, they won by 146 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 19.5 overs. South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets to win the ‘thrill’. David Miller was on the field with 23 off 13 balls with 2 sixes and Rabada was on the field with 13 off 7 balls with 1 four and 1 six.
